Canberra subculture and music archive moves forward

Been a bit quiet around here in recent months just working on the Gupsound tape collection which stalled for a while until we could get some hard drives sorted as I was starting to worry about having so much work only stored in the one place but this week we got a few tapes in the mail thanks to Glenno of bands like Half mongrel, Mugshot and The Veebees. The word about what I am trying to achieve seems to be getting out with people offering tapes and we will be back with a few bits of news to follow in the weeks ahead .
We have managed to pickup a Sony PCM-R500 DAT recorder so i’m stoked that we can now archive masters in-house.

Glenno provided us with a few tapes in multiple formats including some 4 track rehearsal tapes, some DATS and some Half mongrel live at Civic youth centre tapes which were a joy to listen to whilst digitising.

Some of these weren’t in great condition and I had to do some repairs and splices on the fly. One of the DATS has a timecode issue so we are still working on that to achieve a positive result.
